Not so long ago, after I finished my project of restoring the old German pens from
‘The suitcase full of fountain pens’
(see elsewhere in the Forum), I had the chance to acquire another quite large lot of German made pens.
Not that much as a suitcase full, and of more recent manufacture, but still interesting,
I hope also for you, my dear fountain pen friends and -lovers.
The ‘ORIENTA’ pens I offer here are supposedly made in the early 1950’s.
N.O.S., brand new, never inked.
Raven black, flattop plastic piston fillers with good working cork seals and a good working filling mechanism, with brass driver rods.
But I must say, not in a 100% perfect condition. Technically they are good. They fill OK and write OK, but they have a small cosmetical issue.
I think they suffered from temperature changes at some time during storage, so the barrels all show a little crimp. It does not affect their working, but when you look good , you can see some irregularity in the tube of the barrel.
This sensibility for crimp was always an issue with Celluloid and other early thermoplastics and sometimes pens could be completely warped or otherwise deformed by heat. (Remember the Parker 45 sections?)
With these pens the deformation is only marginal but for that reason I will offer them here for a very friendly price.
Still very attractive classic early 1950’s German pens, designed for school and general purpose use. The nibs are Fine, ( tending to EF), non flex, but a little ‘giving’ with a simple folded point, no Iridium. Nevertheless very easy and smooth writers.
About the brand: On the caps is a brand: ‘Orienta’. I could not find any information so far, but when I look at the design, material and technique of these pens they are almost identical to some ‘CERTO’ pens I have in my collection. Certo was later ( I think in the 1950’s) taken over by the more well known brand ‘REFORM’ (by Mutschler).

Material: Barrel, cap , blind cap and section: Raven black thermoplastic or celluloid.
Feeder: Ebonite (HR)
Clip and cap ring: Gold colored brass. (not sure if this is gold plating).
Filling system: Piston filler. There is no blind cap, the end knob on the pen directly operates the filling system. Good cork seal.
Nib: Gold Plated - "Orbit Special Pen". Line width EF-F. Non flex with folded tip (No iridium).
Very smooth writer. See writing sample.
Condition: New Old Stock in nice condition. No scratches or dings or other marks. Some crimp in the barrel. Cap screws on and off a bit heavy.
