FOR SALE – PILOT VANISHING POINT – MATTE BLACK – 18k FINE NIB
$95 shipped within CONUS.

This pen is nearly new - the body is brand new, and the nib is nearly. Fine nib. It writes very well but isn't as buttery smooth as another fine VP nib I've had. (I think this is due to some very slight time misalignment. It's so hard to see with a find VP nib)

Why would I sell a nearly new pen? Well I had bought a Matte VP back when they first came out. I was using it for work, where I have to write a lot while standing up - so the VP worked great for that. Until I dropped it right on the nib one day. So I ordered a new nib and also sent the body off to Pilot because it had a lot of scratches and wear. If I understand correctly, they have changed the finish on the Matte black VP because the earlier production would wear/scratch too easily. I believe this finish does look different than the one I had looked new.

Comes with convertor and a bunch of cartridges (of a dark blue ink I believe).
I'll ship it in a Lamy 2000 box, as I no longer have the original pilot box.

CARTRIGES AND CONVERTORS:
(Note that I will not be sending those empty cartridges or the 2 squeeze converters. I think those squeeze converters are from the Pilot Murex I used to have, and they don't fit quite snugly enough in the VP. You probably wouldn't want them even if they fit well - they're annoying to use)

:P PS: Those squeeze fillers are more likely from a metropolitan/mr, penmanship, plumix, etc than a murex, as the murex would have been a fully encased as the original con-20. But you are right, they don't work very well with the VP, the con-50 or cartridges work best.

By the way on the 'harder' writing sample I'm assuming you're still within the normal (ie: gentle) pressure, just tad more effort than a 'scribble' so to speak.

Yeah. It's harder than I write (I write with a light touch), but definitely not hard enough to damage the nib.

Now I'm wondering where I got the squeeze converters from. The only other Pilots I've had are the Murex and a couple Parallels.

If you got the Murex second hand and not as NOS, the original seller could have threw some in from something like the metro/78g/etc. I know the Murex with the original con-20 has a white plastic lip instead of the current blue lip found on the current con-20s. I currently use a cartridge in my Long Murex, since like the Vanishing point, the cartridge gives the most secure and consistent fit with that protector cap (where as the con-50 seems to need a couple good twists to make sure it's seated deeply enough for the clicker).

Nice to know about the writing pressure, I'm a bit light handed too, enough so that I can use a pilot penmanship's EF smoothly.

I'm debating this one (got a couple listings around the same price I'm debating), unless of course you're open to potential trades if there's anything you feel you're missing from your collection. If interested can always shoot me a PM, otherwise I'll probably be contacting you if I can finally make up my mind which direction I'm going. Used to have two VPs with a F and M nib (M was sprung, F was super dry, tweaked them best I could), in the two carbonesque finishes, but I've always wondered what the black matte would feel like (I'm a sucker for stealthy pens).
