As a humble guy without much disposable income or good sense, let me share with you one of two recent purchases.

Looks a bit like a Parker Sonnet has fallen into my clutches.

But no. It's a Baoer 388 "Greta Garbo". And it's really quite nice. It's downright incredible for the price. I paid $8 USD for this pen and I like it a lot.

It feels good in the hand, substantial without being too heavy, as a some Chinese pens can be. The cap posts securely feels good. Out of the box, the nib offers a little feedback on cheaper paper and has yet to hesitate or skip.

It's not as sexy as a real Parker or your Montblanc 149, but I'm rockin' it.

Thank you sir. I've got a second pen that's a bit fancier and costs twice as much!

I'll be taking portraits an posting a review on it soon.

Thanks again for the attention.

Fountain pens are wonderful but the most wonderful thing about them is that they free you to write in a way that nothing else does. Enjoy using the ones you have.

I haven't had a chance to post a photo, but after DNeal sent me two Knox pens with nibs he had ground for me, I realized the pens were too heavy. I looked for a pen with a similar nib/feed size, and the Baoer 388 caught my eye on the isellpens site. If it hadn't worked, I'd have only been out $6.00 (on sale), but the nib fit perfectly. This pen is ridiculously nice for the price, the fit and finish is a lot higher than what I've come to expect from cheap Chinese pens, and damned if I'm not using this thing all the time! I may pick up one of those black ones, as well.

I haven't had a chance to post a photo...

Quick and dirty phone cam pics: here are the two cheap pens used to host the Knox nibs that DNeal ground for me: on the left is a Wing Sung 3203, originally from our member Mike Hosea, and on the right is the Baoer 388 I mentioned. I will eventually swap the nibs so that the duotone nib is in the Baoer, but... later for that.
