Scrolling through eBay, I came across an ink brand I hadn't heard of before: Seitz-Kreuznach. Take a look at this listing (http://www.ebay.com/itm/Fountain-pen-ink-Arctic-blue-3-38-fl-oz-Seitz-Kreuznach-Colors-of-Nature-/251920263257?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item3aa79e2859); if you scroll down through the photos you'll come to examples of their other colors. Product of Austria, it seems to be a good amount of ink for a pretty low price with free shipping. Interesting.
ETA: Cyber6 has gotten some samples and posted examples and thoughts over on FPN (http://www.fountainpennetwork.com/forum/index.php/topic/286029-anyone-tried-seitz-kreuznach-colors-of-nature-inks/#entry3294756). Still interesting. Hole in head still obviously exists.
