This is the second of the three inks I got from this manufacturer (Austrian Ink, bottled in Germany I believe). The first, Palm Green has it's own review. This is an orangey red when wet, but dries to a more pinky red. So lets get the picture up:-

Orangey red when wet / Pinky red when dry

Good flow with this one, quite a wet ink

No hard starts or skipping

Shades just a touch

In no way water resistant, 1 minute and its gone

When wet its aptly names, when dry not so much

This ink is very well behaved, with some good characteristics. It flows well making the nib just flow across the page, no skipping or hard starts. Unusually for a red, it cleans out really easily, much easier than I expected. The ink does not feather or spread on good quality paper, but does spread on cheaper paper. There is no bleedthrough, but it does showthrough if a broader nib is used.

This is one of those inks that looks really quite pink on white paper, but more red on cream coloured paper so looks closest to its name on that. The ink had a long dry time on the Tomoe River paper I used for the review, around 25 seconds, but on my usual Black n' Red notebooks it was around 15 - 18 seconds (which, I think is still long). Lastly this ink is not water resistant, it folds like a rice paper flower when in contact with water, so not good for writing addresses etc.

I don't think I'll be using this ink much (it's just too pink when dry for me), but I'll try it a couple of times to see if my opinion improves any, but who knows, it may appear in a PIF in the future.

Hope this was at least interesting, and didn't waste your time.

Cheers,

Bud.
