Right now it's sitting in the safe. It complains about never getting out to play.

I like those pens. You have many beautiful pens. The German economy thanks you.

I would love one but they are just too big for my hand

Davey: Have you written with one at all? Even with my small hands I found it rather comfortable, because the section is reasonably sensibly sized. Unlike a 149 which I have never held, but just look monstrous.

I can't really judge, because the only Pels I have handled are an M1000 and my M215, but my guess is that 600 would be "my size", the 215 is a tad smaller than I would like.

I have used a M1000 and it was ok but not $500 plus OK to buy one. I have spent years using a relatively thin Waterman FP so a thick girthed pen now feels strange. I will get one eventually as I would like to have the classic Black/Green striated pattern in all the sizes.

On a side note last night I purchased the last two M620s I needed for the full set of twelve . I am taking a break from Pelikans until next year when my collecting will resume at a less frenzied pace.

Absolutely right. The 149's section is decidedly thicker than the M1000's. To call it monstrous is stretching it a bit, though. It is actually not as tall as the Big Pel.

Well, this calls for a celebration. Now how about some M640's? There are only 6 of those so far, you would have those complete much quicker :).

Cheers,
Peter

I have written with a MB 149 and to me it a small pen.

I have looked at M640 but I dislike how the section bulges in the middle.

I am not certain what I will concentrate on in the coming year. I have toyed with starting on vintage pens but whilst I love the look of them they just don't interest me enough.

I have only posted this probably a total of 5 times but this post deserves it.

Did you only look at the M640 or did you write with one? I bought my first (Niagara Falls) purely for sentimental reasons, having visited the place a couple of times, but I really liked the very comfortable way it fit my hand, because of that bulge. The other five in some way just followed me home. :)
But to each his own.

I have also been very reluctant with vintage pens, own only 2. What would interest me most would be the variety and the performance of their nibs, especially with Pelikan and MB.

Cheers,
Peter

I have used an Indian summer and it felt strange. They don't have normal pelican bill clip either. I might be just being fussy.

I would actually love a pen made in the year of my birth as it is in the sixties I would probably go for a Montblanc.

26 Pelikans will be enough "birds" for a while.
