Wonderful photo! You can see every last barbule on the flight feathers and the down. I hope he enjoys that seed.

The detailed texture of the feathers at the base of the wing is exquisite.

Always so gorgeous! He looks smaller than the robins we get in Missouri.

Thank you Lady Onogaro, maybe there are different species?

Yes, there are. The NA Robin is a larger bird from the thrush family. Your European Robin is related to flycatchers.

That looks like the robins who live in my yard - - - - but Per's robin is . . . . . "cuter." don't you think?

Yeah, the other Robin is so cute. American version is masculine, but sings so pretty.

Yep, the NA Robin is close to the Starling in size. About twice the size 25cm vs 13cm long and 80g vs 20g weight of the EU Robin.

Thanks for the info, it sounds like they only have name in common.

That and the red breast.

Someday I'll make a pens and birds trip through Europe but until then; keep the photos coming. It's nice seeing birds I can't find here.

I wouldŽnt mind a trip to the States, and go looking for birds (and also butterflies).

You would be out of luck....pen shops are a rare bird here. Just the usual big box stores with the same boring stuff.

You should plan an East coast visit in August. That way you could do the DC Pen Show then hit the PA markets. Birding will also be decent at that time, not outstanding but good for a visitor seeking new birds.
