SOLD: My Waterman's Patrician Fountain Pen and Mechanical Pencil set, in moss agate. This is from my personal collection, and I am only the second owner in decades since the previous owner discovered it in Kutztown Pennsylvania in the 1980s. It was restored and then stored, safe from any wear, for a long long time. This one is pristine, and deserves to be in an investment level collection.

This pen is about the best Patrician out there right now. It has no nicks, bumps or brassing. The color is amazing and deep, with no fading of the celluloid. The photographs hardly do justice to the beauty of this celluloid. The clip is firmly attached. No cracks (the line in the photo of the bottom edge of the cap is just a reflection). The nib is fine and flexible! If you like writing with your treasures, this is the one to own. The pencil's color and depth equal the pen. The pencil has some brassing on the clip and band, but it does not detract from it's beauty.

I am aware of the prices on the internet, especially Asian listings on eBay, but I'm not even going to attempt to ask that much because this pen is genuinely for sale. Price reduced! US$1,290. Includes shipping anywhere in USA. PayPal, cash or certified funds. Contact me for purchase from outside the USA. First PM to me that reads "I'll take the Patrician" holds it pending payment or arrangements within 24 hours.

THis is a really nice example. You can go to a pen show and see many similar pens, but I can attest that the color on this one "pops". I'm not just saying that to boost Fred's sale potential (okay, sure... Fred said there's a McD's value meal for me if it sells...) no seriously, this on,e from multiple examples I looked at over the course of a years worth of pen shows, this one has incredible color. If you are in the market for one, this one represents a great value. THere's my plug, best of luck on the sale Fred!

I concur, I saw this pen Saturday at the Central Penn Pens meet and it's an incredible example.

Fred, I'll PM you the address for the Value Meal.

Thanks, guys. I just wish I could better capture the like-new color in my photographs!

What an absolutely stunning pen! It is also a salutary reminder that such items of beauty are so far outside any projected ability to acquire them that I am causing myself a degree of unnecessary suffering just by looking at it. Whoever buys it is going to be one very, very lucky person.

On top of that, the price is reduced!

Very funny. You'd have to take the one off the front before it came close to what I will ever be able to afford for a luxury item. Even then it would be doubtful. I'm just glad, in a way, that I don't get to see any of this in person. It would, as they say, do my head in!

If not sold at this price online, you can see it at DC. :-)

Oh, of course. I'll stump up the price of the pen in order to fly to the US just to LOOK at the pen. :)

Now that I come to think on it, I don't believe I have ever seen - in person - any pens of such a rank. Probably never will. It's not the sort of thing that exists here as far as I know. My costliest is a Waterman 94, which I now believe I overpaid on. A lesson learned too late, alas.

I'm just kidding around. Your buyer will be fabulously blessed.

Cryptos,

I sold you a waterman 94 a few months ago, the price was $150 and $10 shipping.

I am not sure if it is the same pen you are referencing, but I would hate to think that I overcharged for said pen.

In addition to coming with a 1 year warranty, it was quite nice for a quartz example, it had, if I remember zero trim wear, which is quite unusual for the model.

Rick, you didn’t overcharge.

I saw the nib and made an assumption on flexibility. It’s my fault for not being more thorough in my research, and is in no way a reflection on you.

However, I can say that it is actually a really great writer, and I have used it every day since it arrived – currently filled with Maruzen Kirin courtesy of Marie!

That’s kind of a silver lining I suppose – if you’ll excuse the pun on trims! It has also made me a great deal more cautious when looking at listings, which is probably a good thing too.

I suspect I may never see or use a really flexible fountain pen nib in what remains of my life. I am simply too poorly positioned. I was going out on one hell of a limb with this one. The 94 is really a pen that needs a more deserving owner. Low level pens are more my speed.

Your listings are fantastic. I watch them all the time, even if most items are beyond me. I also think your pricing is more than fair. You cannot take into account the stupidity of buyers though (that’ll be me).

Lovely pen, Fred. If I could afford it I would be asking you to package it up immediately. Please leave the pictures up so us poor people can drool for a bit. :)
