This is one of three MB sets (142, 144, 146 Green Striated Sets) that I have desired for my MB collection, but was content to deny myself as to find even one in a "set original" was almost impossible to my thinking.
It has been a 7 year quest per my pen journal. Just assuming that I would not find any of the sets in the condition I thought may be available. But this last week, a 1955 Montblanc 142 Green Striated / Striped FP and Pencil Set in NOS condition in its original green crocodile zippered case became available and was acquired as a valued addition to my humble collection.
I have often been tempted to "put" this set together one pen / pencil / case at at time, but knowing how much it would detract from my collection budget piecemeal, I abstained. Until this last week when I found the entire 142 set offered as original. (The green striated pencil is the same for the 142, 144, and 146 sets). But that doesn't make it "original".
I am satisfied now that I waited. This set is as perfect a FP / Pencil / cased set as I have ever received. Not a scratch or blemish anywhere.
For the last 37 years or so I have enjoyed collecting writing instruments. This is one of those sets that you just keep examining to see if there is something to detract. A 10 power loop later I cannot find anything that gives me pause.
I will take more photographs a bit later, but for now....: "A shared sorrow is half the sorrow.... And a shared joy is double the joy!"
You guys are great!
