I have looked around but could not find any guide on dis-assembly of the Aurora Optima or it's cousin the 88. Anybody know how to do this or have links on how to do it ?

Indeed that helps, any pic of the modified tool to open it up ?

Gotta ask. Why do you want to open one up?

Mine has gone a long time without "silicone greasing" the piston. Feels a bit stiff. Is there a easier non-invasive way of achieving this ?

My modern 88s have nibs that simply unscrew, like the Pelikans. I reckon a cocktail stick with a tiny bit of silicone on, inserted through the nib feed hole into the body of the pen should do the trick. No other work should be required.

Unfortunately due to the reserva magica feature on the Aurora 88/optima, the lube with a stick trick does not work that well. YMMV.

The tool is very similar to a MB tool, I don't have a pic of it handy.

Yes - The Optima nib assemblies also screw out. Just take care not to mis-align the nib on the feed when removing or re-installing the nib and feed.
