I wanted my pens to be stored inside a chinese 19th century jewelery box. My mother had one, and when I started pen collecting, that was the kind of chest I wanted for my pens.

I have been looking for years for the one that would "talk" to me. Last year I have found it. I used violine velvet to cover the pen trays.

Thank you for looking.

These 2 birds are Art Deco silver knife rests. They separate the pens from the dip pens

Several days ago I was lucky enough to find a similar one, but much smaller, for my indian pens.
I have set them on the pen trays for now, but I will be looking for a dark orange velvet to cover them with.
Orange, to be harmonious with the chest's motives, and because of the signification of this colour in hindouism, and India overall.

I love that chest. Thank you for showing it.

I bought a nice Chinese-inspired chest from Pier One a few months ago. It was a bit scuffed up, so it was on sale. Originally, it was a makeup chest with a pop-up mirror in the lid. But now I use it to hold my vintage pens.
