View Full Version : What ink do you use for Xmas cards?

I do most of my writing with brown ink these days, but I don't think I'd use it for Xmas cards. I have a variety of cards in my stash, most of them printed on white stock. Maybe a dark green ink?

Just wondering, what do you folks use?

great question. I'll probably use Diamine Ancient copper, this brilliant brown with great shading.

Last year I used Private Reserve Ebony Green.

yeah... a green or red is probably best...but with all the colored paper on cards these days...you never know how it will show up. The R&K scented inks might be just the thing.

I used Montblanc Irish Green last year. This year I might either go a darker green maybe Diamine Evergreen or switch to a burgundy tone like Noodler's Black Swan in Australian Roses...

I'm guessing I'll use Edelstein Aventurine.

I think Diamine Evergreen should work well for christmas cards.

I used Diamine Evergreen last year and liked it. Will probably do the same this year.

Last year I used black swan in Australian roses. This year I might try Akkerman Chinatown Red or Diamine Sherwood Green. Haven't decided. Maybe both.

I bought Diamine Evergreen. I filled two pens one evening, & is this ink ever dark! At first, I thought the bottle actually contained black ink & was mis-labelled. Truly!

In daylight, however, it does look more green. I've since diluted it, and it looks good. I've written a letter & two Xmas cards as well already (the earliest I've written Xmas cards, ever!)

Thank you all for your suggestions. I may not be done yet ...

P.S. It's my first Diamine ink. If you have other Diamine inks, do they look very different in daylight as compared to artificial light?

I did them today and used J Herbin Rouge Hematite in a Noodlers Konrad Flex Pen - first "public" outing of my attempts with a flexy nib. Not bad.

Always reds or greens. This year it was J Herbin Rouge Hematite.

I plan to get a bottle of Rouge Hematite and use it for cards.

Mrs Bogon pulled out the Christmas cards last night and did some using Noodler's Ottoman Azure while I used Chiku-rin(BambooForest) & Heart of Darkness.

Last year I used Diamine Monaco Red and Sailor Jentle Epinard. I am not sending out cards this year, but unless I find better selections I will probably do PR Sherwood Green and De Atramentis Oriental Red.

Diamine Sherwood Green with a Medium stub. Wanted to use Dew on Pine by Pilot, but haven't got a bottle yet.

This year I ended up alternating between Diamine Sherwood green and p. w. akkerman china town red. Green in a 1.5mm twsbi stub and the red in a sailor 1911m extra fine.

This last Christmas I used MB's LE Winter Glow. The year before that I hadn't discovered the magic of fountain pens yet.
