Love bringing some life back into an old pen.

This is an old fountain pen I got as a pair (it came with a gold filled pencil branded "Wahl Ever Sharp" with the space in between Ever and Sharp), both marked 1/8 14K Gold Filled. The patent date on both cap and body is marked 1904 (July 5th on the cap, January 25th on the body).

The fountain pen needed to be cleaned, old rubber sac removed and cleaned up inside, and soaked the nib and feed of any old ink and crud, polished up the gold a little that was still on the pen. Then I ordered and installed a new #14 sized sac, and a little rosin sealant around the grip to keep it firm in the barrel.

Tuned the nib for alignment and flow. It's a 14K "Eversharp 2 Signature" nib that's got a little semi-flex to it (pretty easy flex from EF to about medium/broad).

Got it inked up with some Montblanc Irish Green.

Capped next to my mid-1920s Wahl #2.

Inked with Montblanc Irish green on a Rhodia No.12 Pad.

After cleaning and disassembly, shown with the previous dried/hardened sac, before the #14 sac arrived in the mail.

The other pens I got on the same day as the gold filled ones. Also showing the pencil it came with.

I wish I had your skills! I have a similar one that is waiting for me to have the ca$h for restoration.

Just needs to be cleaned with a new sac? (to your knowledge that is).

Yes, as far as I know that's all it needs.

Not too difficult then (Relatively speaking). Especially if you can get the grip/section out of the barrel without much fuss (otherwise might have to soak the front part, or run the grip under warm water, in case it's sealed with rosin, but if it's sealed with shellac, then may need a heat gun, fortunately mine came right out), allowing you to shake out any old sac inside, and giving the section/nib/feed a good soak to allow you to pick off the old sac. May even need to knock the nib/feed thru the back with a knockout block if it can't just be pulled out to further clean the feed (otherwise aqua bulb on back to give it a good ammonia flush). Can use moist q-tips to swap out the inside of the cap, if not wanting to soak the cap. Then it's basically get proper sac size, trim it to the proper length, shellac onto the clean nipple of the section, let that dry, talc'd the sac on the outside, slip back into the barrel (dabbing tiny bit of rosin on the section if it's loose in the barrel to seal it), let that dry for bout a day or two, water test with the lever, flush, ink it up, try it out.

... pretty much it in a crude overly simplified way, outside of using maybe jeweler's cloth to shine up the gold (but be mindful of abrasiveness like the rogue cloth or sunshine cloth, as some platings are thinner than others).

That's a pretty little pen!

Thanks, a friend of mine may be buying it from me to go with the secretary chain her grandmother had from the 30s (ie: used to have a pen attached, but they can't find it).
