This is a beautiful pen and in very good condition. I believe it is an early a World War II era Balance pen judging by the plastic covered plunger rod and the smooth feed. The rod's cover is in good condition and the pen fills perfectly. The real attraction is the large window pane ink view panels in the barrel. They are somewhat darkly ambered but still have plenty of clarity to view the filling system and ink level as can be seen in the photos.
The barrel and cap have flea bites and light wear marks but no bite marks, scratches, gouges or cracks. The manufacturer's imprint is clear with a price code of 500. The knurling on the blind cap is shallow but quite visible. There is absolutely no plating loss on the clip or band. The nib is beautiful and writes a smooth, fine, wet line.
The filling system has been recently refurbished. I've replaced the plunger gasket and packing unit using the method, tools and materials used and recommended by the most respected Vacuum fill repair professionals.
