I didn't have the heart to "clip" this pen and disrupt the lovely silver lines in this remarkable piece of galalith. I find the pen compelling in a way -- I can't leave it sitting on a desk or table: it wants to be held!

Thanks for looking!

Fascinating! Did you make the whole pen?

Can you explain what galalith is?

Wikipedia says it is synthetic plastic (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Galalith), actually the article is kinda interesting.

Nice!! Man, I would love to work some of that stuff.

Gorgeous pen, Doug.

Well, not the nib and feed, but other than that -- yes, I make every part of my pens. Thanks for asking!

Like a lot of early plastics, it is a compound of casein (milk plastic) and formaldehyde. It hasn't been made for many years, although some of it surfaces in Europe when old stock is uncovered.

That is lovely, and quite unusual galalith, too. Pinstripe pyjamas!

The beauty of your pen prompted me to learn more about galalith. Beautiful and inspiring work, and I wouldn't be able to touch it for a clip either.

Thanks for your post.
