Just picked up my dream pen at FPH in NY yesterday (see pics of my visit here: http://fpgeeks.com/forum/showthread.php/13661-My-visit-to-fountainpenhospital )

I love everything about this pen..the size, weight, overall feel and feel of the lava material specifically, the closing mechanism etc…it just speaks to me.

As i mentioned in my introduction thread, i collect lots of things aside from pens, including custom knives...the Visconti would make an elegant companion to my ride alongside my Bud Nealy modified Aikuchi i think

Congratulations....the Homo Sapiens is a modern classic for a reason. The gradual patination of the copper as it ages (oxidises??) is a treat to watch.

You won't be disappointed. Just be aware that the ink supply is relatively small.

You will grow to love the pen. I think a little hand moisturizer is sometimes rubbed in to keep it looking good.

That is a fine looking pen the knife is not bad either would that be a Kydex sheath?

thanks all

yes, it is a kydex sheath,..set up for inside breast pocket carry..though it comes with attachments so you can set it up for other modes of carry.

Congrats on your new pen. I picked up an HS Bronze (Large) about 3 years ago and, while I loved its aesthetics, the medium nib was "ok" but not quite up to par. Several months ago I sent it to Mike Masuyama and had the nib ground and tuned to a smooth and wet stub. Now the HS is one of my very favorite writers.

Congrats on your Bronze Age HomoSapiens.
It is such an iconic pen.

I like to see my ink levels so I compromised with the transparent models.

Great pen and good to see photos of the Fountain Pen Hospital.

Regarding the knife, back in the mid sixties I and my friends all had Bowie type knives on our belts when out in the woods.
Now, here in the UK carrying a concealed knife such as yours will result in a prosecution and up to 4 years in jail and a fine of up to £5000. I still have my knife from way back, but it stays in the attic. I believe that a folding knife (not locking) with a blade less 3" can be carried if you can offer a good reason for having it on your person. The law seems so complicated that it is best not to bother at all. Happy days.

Oooh, I hadn't seen Noodler's Dark Matter before. I like the "just short of black," dark gray color of that one.

Care to give us a writing sample with your new pen and inks?

Ok, the car nerd / automotive engineer side of me has to ask what's up with the fancy Stand21 / AMG driving gear. This is relevant to my job and other hobbies :D

I do like the pen by the way. Pretty sure I'll be ordering a Homo Sapiens Steel Midi within the next few days.

oh just saw your post...Stand21 used to be the official supplier for AMG (I believe it is Puma now)..i had them custom make a pair of F1 certified fireproof racing shoes and gloves for me (actually, i had to order two pairs of gloves for them to make it)..i ordered them in grey as opposed to the official white to match my C63 Affalterbach Edition (1 of 30)

Very cool! I spend my days getting paid to drive cars as an AWD calibrator in the automotive industry. I'm a car nerd. I just took delivery of a 2016 Cayman GTS last Friday...looking forward to a few track days with it next year.

I have a friend who also collects knives. He's a big fan of Emerson and I've seen him carrying a few from Doyle and Fellhoelter as well.

I have a few emersons (probably 8 or so lol) but all production...however, i do have a custom pair of Emerson knife themed Rocketbuster boots with built in karambit holders (that wave out the blades :) )...i was fortunate to take a pic with Ernie and my boots at the USN Gathering V :)

Congrats on the pen and the Bud Nealy knife! Love his MCS carry system. I've got a couple of his blades as well. He is a truly nice guy, and has had me to his shop a few times to help me with my knife making skills.

I have around 30 knives, fixed blades and folders. Mainly are the production knives. Custom knife is too expensive for me. I stopped buying knives for years and my money goes to pens:crazy_pilot:
