Stumbled upon this Forum. Looks like what I was searching for. Already having trouble finding how to post. I started in the chat, as it was the only place I found I could post anything. I have some basic cleaning questions about fountain pens. Is everyone here a Fountain Pen M.D.? :)

Welcome...No, some of us are PhD's, DO's and JD's with one or two DMD's in the mix. I'm sure there's others too, but they're pretty quiet.


Here's the QND cleaning synopsis:

10:1 water:non-sudsing ammonia. An ear bulb for pushing the cleaner and rinsing water through cartridge converter pens otherwise use the pen's filling system to repeatedly flush.

For especially dirty pens get some Koh-I-Noor Rapido-Eze and an ultrasonic cleaner.

Cleaning: more often than you think is adequate, and mostly plain water suffices - for more stubborn cases Wile E Coyote has you pretty much covered... :)

Welcome Tatanka!! Lots of nice and knowledgeable people here. I agree with Wile E. Coyote's reply for cleaning pens. You can find a bulb syringe at your local drug store or you could purchase the bulb on-line.
