Oblation Papers & Press in "The Pearl" district of Portland, OR carries Jean Pierre Lapine pens. I noticed two models, a short one (must be posted for use) & one that is standard length. I asked about the nib of the short one, and was told it is in between a fine & a medium. Anyone have experience with these pens?

I thought several of the short ones were beautiful.

I used to want one. They look cool and distinctive. But I haven't tried on in real life yet...

I have two of their pens---a "Mini Indigo" in fountain pen and ballpoint forms. The fountain pen is lovely to look at and the cap screws on to the back of the barrel so it is very securely attached when posted. The nib writes well but has some start-up issues at times, IIRC.....Take a look at Stephen Brown's video on his Lepine fountain pen (an "Indigo") here:

Just noticed noticed that "Lepine" is misspelled in the thread title and original poster's post ;)
(P.s. if you are Googling for info on the pens, you don't have to have the accent on the last "e")

Let's revive a good old thread.

Jean Pierre Lepine Indigo? I'd have 10 if they are not as pricey as they are:

This pen feels like a solid silver bullet in my hand.

I have had 2 or 3 and reviewed them here a while back. Though I have small hands, I found them uncomfortable due to their weight and the nibs were unremarkable. I sold them off within a year. On the good side though, they are very pretty.

You did? I should have bumped one of your reviews then.

I think the weight is one factor that makes me like this pen. Which is strange because I usually don't like either all metal or heavy pens.

I have a few Lepines. Very nicely made, good fit and finish, and very individual - compared for instance to modern Sheaffer or Parker, they have real style and yes, they're pretty. While the nibs aren't special, there are actually very few modern pens that I'd say were special out of the box as far as nibs go - and they can always be tweaked.

I remember visiting the Papeterie du Dome near Montparnasse station, Paris, and they had a huge layout of Lepines - they are very, very handsome en masse! Worth popping in there, as well as Mora Stylo, for anyone passing through Paris.
