Can pens be made with drip glaze? I like the look of certain simple, inexpensive, drip glazed coffee mugs, and always wonder why it's not an option on pens like Urushi or Cloisonne.

I imagine it has to be kiln-baked and might shrink or damage the material used in the pen, but don't know much about the process. Maybe there are glazes that look similar but are easier to apply.

If you tried to kiln fire a pen, at least made from any of the materials I know of that pens are made of, it would melt. I guess you could do a sterling pen and do a drip enamel over it. That would be pretty cool.

I'd get a cheap metal Jinhao and experiment with enamel model paint and paintbrushes. No need to fire.

You could even try it with nail polishes (built-in brush!) just to get the drip technique down.
