O.K, that title is perhaps a bit disingenuous: I've known about this for a while. The first piston fillers were not Pelikans, but pens made in the 1910s by Manos, an Austrian firm. No one seems to ever mention this, however, and I'm really wondering why that is. What does the mechanism look like, who engineered it, and why did it not catch on? Here is a link to pictures: http://www.vintagepens.com/morepics.php?id=10544&pics=6
And a link to anther one for sale: http://www.fountainpenrecycler.com/manos-austrian-made-unusual-fountain-pen/ Curious? BUY IT and tell us! ;)
Basically, any information about this would be really appreciated.

Thanks,
