Even with a nail-file you can revive a pen

That's a nice result. If the nib is steel, it should last a long time. You could also find a replacement nib.

Judging from the flexibility, there must be some gold in it, I've never seen a steel nib that requires very little pressure to flex and then snap back together quickly.

Upon close inspection (and a few days of submerging in water and light scrubbing with paper towel every now and then), I can make out a faint engraving on the nib. It says Waterman's Hundred Year Pen.

The pen is a Franken-Water-Eagle
