I like Bexley pens and have quite a few. One of my favorites is the Owner's Club 2012. I actually have two of the blue ones, both snagged during a recent Bexley shelf-clearing on eBay. One has a gold nib on it, and it is sort of held "in collection", but the other is thus free-from-fear-of-loss-or-damage to be used as a daily writer. I've put various nibs on it, but I recently switched it back to a steel Fine nib, except that I had polished off most of the gold plating (which I don't think looks all that great on these nibs for some reason). In the past I've tried to polish all of the gold off, but with this one I tried a different technique, using only dry 3M Tri-M-Ite wet-dry paper culminating in the 1 micron stuff to take off the surface plating while leaving the gold plating in the scrollwork. I'm sure you could use micromesh to the same effect. I took the pen out of my pocket at work, and direct sunlight from a setting sun glistened off the gold in the nib. I tried to capture a picture of it because I thought it looked rather nice. Note that the scrollwork and F were stamped before plating, and so the plating remains on them, but there is no plating on the Bexley logo (because it is engraved after plating, which is part of the reason I don't like the look of the two-tone steel nibs in the first place). I mention this because if it looks like there is any remnant of plating on the Bexley engraving, it is merely a camera effect only.
