I just got my new Pilot 78G in a fine nib today and it looks like I am having some flow issues. I wrote a letter tonight and I would have half of a word that is super fine/dry and then the other half of the word would be much more wet. I am new to fountain pens but I did not have an issue like this when my Lamy Safari. Is this because the nib is that much finer than the Sarfari EF? Do I just need to be patient as I run more ink through the pen to break it in? Any help for this new guy is much appreciated.

do you have another ink to try in the pen? It could make all the difference.

i have used two in it so far and they have both done the same thing. They are both from Noodler's though. I have a Waterman that I can put in it if you think that will help

Try a thorough cleaning before the switch. Lots if water and maybe give the nib and feed a toothbrush scrub.

Looks like I just needed a few pages of notes/scribbling to get it in the groove. It writes beautifully now!
