I received a lovely and generous Christmas present from one of my doctoral students who graduated a few years ago. Along with a Midro A5 notebook (which I have never tried), she brought back from Japan an old inkwell that belonged to her grandfather (and maybe even great-grandfather). This set appears to be from the 1930s maybe?
I felt a little guilty cleaning out the ink residue, but also curious about whether it was from powdered ink.
This will have an honored and cherished place on my desk.

That is stunning; really beautiful. . I love the Japanese aesthetic & that is just my cup of tea, as the saying goes :-)

Yes, indeed. The funny thing is, I don't know if it is specifically Japanese. I have seen similar ones listed as "art deco" but no further information. Perhaps I should sprinkle a few tea leaves nearby just for atmosphere.

Indeed, an elegant piece. You must be a very inspiring teacher!

I was also thinking Art Deco. Very nice!
