Hi there!

Quick question to the experts here, what is today's market price for a modern Toledo (1980's onward)?
I see prices ranging from 7-800$ to 1400$ NOS. How come such a difference?

The size will matter a lot..400 size or 800 size. Is there a 600 size?

I feel like its one of those things where the original retail price is much higher than what most people are willing to pay, sorta like the Montblanc 149 and 146. So, high MSRP doesn't always translate to high second-hand price. I've seen even M910's, mint with box and papers, go for $450-600 dollars, compared with most retailers selling it new for over $1300.

It also reminds me of the solitaire 146's that retail for over $1200. Yeah, they're cool, but in the end, it's still a 146 with a merely cosmetic change, which, for many, makes the pen too heavy, maybe gaudy. Hence, being able to get a solitaire 146 for around $450-700 depending on variety.

There is in fact two sizes: M700 and M900. Thanks ChrisC but let's try to avoid comparisons with MB.

Hi, Further clarification is needed. Are you referring to the sterling or vermeil models? The black, red or yellow ones?

Let's say sterling and vermeil, black, 700.

Vermeil M700 -- in my experience about $550 used, $750 new :)
Price usually depends on the availability.. (more M700s available, the better the price)

I suggest you get the older version, the one with plastic captop but still the matte clip and ring, much more elegant.. but that's me :)

is the sterling rarer than the vermeil?

From an eBay "completed listings" search, I get the sense that both supply and demand are low enough that the prices will be all over the place. That said, I usually define market price as maybe 10% +/- the highest-priced reasonable eBay example sold.

Did they change the m700 -- matte clip and rings? I didn't think that they had. Just checked nibs.com and it seems they are still selling the m700 with twin rings and clip all in matte gold.
