I got my first Lamy today from Goulet! I love writing with it! Here is a picture. I hope shows. Otherwise here is the flicker link https://www.flickr.com/photos/28179381@N07/24330849029/

It's a medium nib. I also got a fine nib but it feels a bit scratchy to me.

Now that you have the M and F nibs, you can start to write and find out which size you prefer.
That information would be useful to help you decide in further pen selections.

I only asked as I have a safari with an M nib and it writes a lot broader than that. Glad to hear you love writing with it. That's the whole point of having a nice pen for me.

I am using Moleskine paper. Maybe that makes a difference.

I have noticed the same type of inconsistency in width but on preppys but I figured that was more due to it being a $4 pen.

Nice pen, thanks for sharing - I still remember my first Safari, bought in the year of its introduction, 1980, and now long lost... It was my first step away from the 'Pelikano' school pen, and only recently did my wife and I acquire a charcoal Safari again - the pen still convinces! Try to smooth the F on a bit of white Mylar foil (also available from Goulet's) following Brian's video. It will help adjusting the 'sweet spot' to your writing angle and take off any minor edge from the nib that's probably responsible for its current 'tooth'. Enjoy!
