On another FP board someone asked about the "Fountain Pen Lifestyle" and described how he matched his pens and watches.

There are only a few cases where I match pen and watch and those cases are not so much a matter of lifestyle or fashion as historical curiosities. Some are really anachronisms too; for example the modern Christopher Ward Battle of Britain commemorative watch with a pen set actually made not long after the Battle of Britain ended... and so on to the Boring Pictures.

My '43 Lord Elgin often gets to play with a '40s Montblanc 234 ½:

a '41 Elgin with my mom's '41 "51":

a '50s Bulova 23 Jewel Scallop with a 50s Montblanc '146:

But generally whatever watch I happen to be wearing goes with whatever pen I happen to be using. Today it is a Bulova Square Chronograph and a Nakaya Portable Writer:

So do any of you try to match pens with outfit or accessories?

No, I don't.
And I won't think about it, because it'll make me neurotic. ;)

But what I will confess is that I carry the vast majority of my pens with me all of the time. I never know which one I am going to feel like writing with and I don't want any of them to be neglected!

When I was working, I used to use a black Montblanc with black shoes, and a bordeaux Montblanc with brown or cordovan shoes. I never considered watches, etc., and I think it's a real stretch. Then, I never understand why everyone doesn't see the compelling logic of my positions.

Any coordination that occurs is mostly a side effect of limited colour choices (saves time). My pens stand a good chance of being the nicest thing I’m wearing.

No coordination with watches, since I only have one of those. But I do choose pens with some attention to how deep my shirt pocket is. The ideal is for the bottom of the pen to touch the bottom of the pocket without being half out of the pocket.

I only have one watch.
So I match it with all the pens I have :)
