There seemed to be a theme, a Sailor Pro Gear Realo and a Pelikan M800.

I'm not sure I would have taken these 2 pens to the beach at the same time if they were mine. In fact, I might not have selected one of them to go to the beach with me. Maybe I would have chosen something a little less valuable. :)

How do you like the sailor pro gear? I'm looking at the midsize in the sky demonstrator. How is the nib? Please let me know it would help allot not much info on the pen. :)

Chrissy, I took 'em strictly for the photo shoot, and beach is only a few minutes walk from my place.

Mike, I only picked it up on Friday, but I love it.

It's inked with Sailor Jentle Tokiwa-Matsu and writes pleasantly wet (for a Japanese medium). Because both the pen and the ink are new, I don't know which is more responsible for the wetness.

As I'm pretty new to fountain pens, I'm not really sure how to describe how it writes. It's not as smooth as my Pelikan M800 (but that pen is having flow issues and I need to take it to a nibmeister). It's a little smoother than my 1911S demonstrator (also a medium, but 14k instead of 21k).
It's on the short side when uncapped, but I can write with it un-posted, unlike my 1911S, which is too light un-posted. (I guess I have medium-sized hands.).

Cheers.

David

You are so lucky.
I'd be out often with my sketch pad and a fountain pen if I live close to a beach.

My Pro Gear has just a hint of feedback which makes for a unique writing experience. It is difficult to describe as the inclination is to say that it's not smooth, but it is. It's not the same wet glide of the Pelikan, but even with the feedback the Sailor is still floating across the page laying down a decently wet line. I expect it's just the surface finish on the nib. Polishing the nib with a 12000 grit micro-mesh would get it to that buttery smooth feeling, but then you lose the unique feedback experience.

I also have the Tokiwa-Matsu. I'd say it's average for wetness. I do like the shading and the color change you get with it though. Every time I write with it (daily) I'm amused that the wet line is a nice forest green, but when it dries it has hints of brown.
