View Full Version : Clarification on Removing Nib/Feed on a Pilot Heritage 92

If a previous post, I mentioned that Pilot is recommending that users not remove the nib/feed from the pen, as doing so might crack the finger grip - and indeed, that appears to be what the insert that comes with the pen says. I emailed Pilot about this, and at first, they said that indeed, users shouldn't remove the nib/feed. I asked for clarification, and was then told that the real issue is with people trying to unscrew the "nib neck" from the barrel. I assume the "nib neck" is what I've always referred to as the finger grip. Apparently, the finger grip cannot be unscrewed from the barrel, which is not the case with most pens. On most pens, it is removable.

I hope this saves someone some frustration, and possible damage to their pen. Break the grip, and Pilot wants the cost of a new pen for the part.
