Thanks, I'm leaving the fountain pen hobby :cry:- got other interests to pursue! Will be putting many more up in the next few weeks (Viscontis, Stipulas, Omas', etc).

I am not going to break the seal on the ink bottle but I will speculate black. This is a GREAT SET - don/t pass up on it.....

If I recall it correctly the original Aurora Etiopia, as it was called, used ink pellets and not liquid ink. The pellets could be diluted with water whenever the need arose. During the 'on the move' African campaign pellets were much easier to carry around than ink. Even though officers had bigger storage facilities than the troops.

Wow - that is interesting. Thanks for the information - would love to see an Etiopia! However (fortunately or unfortunately depending upon your perspective), this Afrika is a piston fill liquid only.

can't see pictures anymore. Sorry for the mistake. Unfortunately the Etiopia's are almost impossible to find, only seen it in books and once, I think, on ebay at an impossible price, for me. It was an eye dropper that worked with pellets as well. Sorry for my mistake
