Some time ago I bought this Sheaffer NoNonsense/Viewpoint pen;

It unfortunately didn't come with any cartridges or a converter so I wasn't able to try it out right away.
Fast-forward to this week, and about $8 later (which was about the cost of the pen as well...), this converter (86700) arrived;

It popped straight in...

..filling it with ink from a bottle was a breeze and a few seconds later it was ready to go:

Scribbed down some stuff on today's date in my Hobo and really, really liked how the pen wrote!

Prior to these pictures I'd never seen a Viewpoint with a non-italic nib. At least I think that is a regular F nib, not an italic F nib, isn't it? If so, I didn't know they made them like this.

I tend to think of the Sheaffer NoNonsense pens as the "Pilot Metropolitan" of it's day. Had there been people asking around about a first fountain pen to get back then, that's what I would have suggested. But it was only me, and a few other music students who were also doing music copying, that were using fountain pens.
I still have two from when I was an undergrad in the 70's.

Yeah it's a sweet pen. I was packing my bag tonight for tomorrow and the NN got immediately put in it..edging out more expensive and 'better' pens.

Darkbulb--Did you see my thread on the Sheaffer No Nonsense pen with the bird? It looks like these came lots of varieties. I do like your demonstrator!

I think the translucent No Nonsenses are pretty cool looking. I have one with a Broad Italic... It's way too wide for me to write with though. :/

A Pikachu-yellow NN was among my first fountain pens, back in the day when you could walk into any art supply store and buy one or two.
I went through a NN phase. With older models the sections are swappable.

Now I want a pikachu-yellow one to draw little pink cheek-circles on. >___>

Nail polish might work. ;)
There was a pretty good thread about NN colors a while back.
Here... (http://www.fountainpennetwork.com/forum/topic/37003-nononsense-color-range/)
Pen Hero has a decent article about them, too.

You can swap out the nib unit. The Broad Italics usually came with the other two nib units so that you could swap them (they were part of a calligraphy set). Sometimes you can buy the nib unit. The modern ones work on the old barrels just fine, I have found out. You can buy them at Barnes and Noble in the set or at Michael's.
