I have always been fond of mechanical pencils, as I have used them ever since Elementary. Only recently have a discovered the secret beauty and magic in fountain pens. Ever since I touched nib to paper with my first fountain pen, (which was the Kaweco Student) I haven't and will not look at ballpoint the same way again.
