UPDATES: ALL SOLD, Thanks!

I recently decided to sell off a good portion of my collection to better concentrate on my focus. Today I have to offer several harder-to-find Parkers from the 30s: a Royal Challenger set, a Duofold Geometric ("Toothbrush"), and a Thrift Time set.

1. 1939 Parker Royal Challenger set (golden brown herringbone): The fountain pen is the larger, "Standard" size model, measuring a hair over 5 1/8" capped (not the smaller slender size). The barrels of pencil and pen as well as the nib all carry matching '9' date codes, dating this set to 1939. The correct, "Parker Pen" nib lays down a smooth and consistent F line. The FP is a button-filler and has been stored in my collection for some time without a sac. It's now re-sacced and ready to write, so that both pen and pencil are now fully functional.

Condition: You'd be hard pressed to find better short of NOS. No cracks, chips, or personalized engravings. Threads are sound and nib is straight. No discernible discoloration. Good transparency on the visulated section. No brassing that I can see with the naked eye – though a loupe reveals a tiny spot on the underside of the clip at the very bottom (very minor and cannot be detected from the front, see last photo). There is also a small flat spot on the side of the section where it flares out (see last 2 photos), which doesn't interfere with writing and is difficult to notice unless you're looking for it. A beautiful, hard-to-find set ready to become the jewel of your collection.

2. 1939 Parker Duofold Geometric ("Toothbrush") (brown): larger "Standard" size, measuring a hair less than 5 1/8" capped. The Duofold Geometric is particularly difficult to track down since it was manufactured for less than 2 years (1939-40). Based on the '9' code on the barrel, this one dates from 1939. It is a button filler and sports a correct "Parker Pen" nib, which lays down a very smooth and consistent F line.

Condition: Fully restored with new sac so that it writes and fills like new. All threads are sound and the nib is straight. No personalized engravings or any of the discoloration that one typically finds on these pens. There is a single, stable cap-lip hairline that extends to the cap band. And while mostly free of brassing, there is a sliver around the tassie and some some minor high-point wear/micro-scratches on the cap band (the photos are representative here). The cap band is secure in the slot, but does spin in place. And a couple tooling marks on the section (see last photo), The price reflects these issues on a pen not seen in these parts or even on eBay very often.

3. 1938 Parker "Thrift Time" set (burgundy marble): Often confused with the Parker Challenger, the "Thrift Time" pens are less common by comparison, with details such as matching celluloid accoutrements that set them part from the Deluxe Challenger line. A link to a thread with more info about these pens: http://fountainpenboard.com/forum/index.php?/topic/2236-parkers-challenger-like-thrift-time-pens/?hl=thrift. I received this pen and pencil together but, as you can see, the clips are different, the pencil carrying the 1937+ blade clip. However, they do have matching date '8' codes, and the clip for the pen is correct for this model. Given the other anomalies characteristic of this line, then, it wouldn't surprise me if they were originally sold as a set. The color is a rich burgundy red marble that has incredible depth in person. The pen is a button filler and sports a "Parker Pen" nib that lays down a very smooth and consistent F/EF line.

Condition As indicated by their name, Parker's Thrift Time pens were a lower-cost line, offered during the Depression. Their plating seems to have been thinner than one finds on the Challengers and, for this reason, they are particularly difficult to find in nice shape (the thread linked above attests to this). The condition of this set is unusually good for this model. No chips, cracks, or personalized engravings. All threads are sound and the nib is straight. The barrels of the FPs are nearly always found discolored, but the burgundy coloration of this one is bright and even across the barrel and cap. The FP has been restored with a new sac and writes and fills as intended. I see no brassing to the clip of the pen, but there is some high-point brassing to the cap bands. The pencil is almost entirely free of brassing but for the conical section, which shows moderate wear to one side. The pencil's mechanism dispenses and retracts lead, but I'm having some trouble getting it to hold fast to it. I suspect a jam, because I can hear lead rattling around, which I can't seem to get to. I know nothing about restoring mechanical pencils, so I'll leave this to the buyer.
