View Full Version : Mailing Address Exchange for InCoWriMo 2013

eriquito
January 28th, 2013, 04:03 PM
If anyone would like to be on my InCoWriMo mailing list, please send me a name and address - either via Private Message here in the forum or via email: eric at fpgeeks.com

Even if I have previously mailed you something in conjunction with FPGeeks, I may not have your address. I tend not to keep private addresses unless specifically given permission.

My InCoWriMo 2013 Calendar (http://incowrimo.org/2013/01/incowrimo-2013-planning-calendar/) might look full, but I know things will get mixed up and changed around. I'll need a full stable of addresses to make it through the month.

Thanks!

=) Eric

My name and address are listed above, but I have a special request. I am doing this challenge with one of my 11th grade English classes. Each day I will choose who they write to and then give them a few interesting facts about that person so they feel like they have something to write about. Day 1 went GREAT, and they had a lot of fun once they got into it.

I am specifically looking for people who would be willing to receive a packet of letters from a class of 11th graders and would be willing to write back to the group -- don't feel like you have to answer each one individually! :-)

If you would like to help my class participate in the challenge, please PM me with your name and address. If you wouldn't mind, add some info about yourself so I can help spark their interest -- it doesn't have to be a biography, just a few details. Don't worry if you think you are not interesting. You will be interesting to them!

Wow, there are so many eager fountain pen users and letter writers from all over the world that have truly been inspired in the month of February. The FPGeeks can be proud of the launch of this exercise in old school social activism of sending a letter spurred on by the cyber present tweetastic always internet fun way we all link together to share our joys of using the fountain pen.

This is my first post despite following the youtube channel videos and being a regular on FPN forum pages. You will find me over there listed as Mags.

Well, I am off to pen about 28 letters and buy a rather large book of stamps to get my letters off in the mail.

Sad thing is for me is I write letters on a keyboard at work and still, gulp, yes have an assistant who types up my written ones. I do 1-5 letters a day at the office but I am so behind in personal correspondence I have taken the pledge!

Good luck to everyone....and look for a possible letter from me in the near... not too distant future.

I already posted my address earlier in this thread, but I wanted to mention that I now have far more than 28 addresses at my disposal, but I've copied them all down because I always need more people to send random postcards. So you all can expect something from me in the next month or two, perhaps not as part of InCoWriMo, but certainly because of it! :)

:-) I'm still paranoid. But I'm happy to write first and get replies that way. :-)

I understand fully. I spend enough time in the computer and web industry to be very mindful of what information I release, though I get enough junk mail already that I am not sure I would notice a difference. Few things get your information out there quicker than buying a house. Here's hoping for some variety in my mail.

I tend to move a lot so I don't tend to worry about that. Whenever I think I'll be somewhere for a long period of time I generally get a PO Box. But yeah nothing like buying a house OR going to websites such as intellus.com. My best friend shreds everything that comes in with his name/address/account number, doesn't buy online, all of his online stuff is using an alias and never has enough time to be online to share his address and yet you can find a LOT of stuff about him on that site. So I'm not sure it matters whether your share stuff or not.

May I make a suggestion? If you have not already filled out your profile information, could you add a few tidbits about yourself or your interests? I'm finding it helpful to know things like, "I like salmon fishing, 19th century architecture, and theatre of the absurd" when I start to write to a stranger. Thank you!

That's a great suggestion. I went ahead and added a few things. I'm sure as I think of more I will add them (while not trying to scare away the masses).

I'm also skittish about plastering my address around the internet, but feel free to PM me. I am equipped with inexpensive pens, marginal handwriting, a ukulele, more love than skill at art, a boundless knowledge of the American Midwest, and a fascination for staring at the stars.

Maybe not a myth, but propaganda. The government makes this big deal out "your privacy" but it seems it only applies to things that inconvenience us.

Not just that, Manchester, Connecticut, rather than Manchester, New Hampshire. It seems that the colonists often came up short when coming up with names for their settlements...

Very true in New England. When you go down south you start to get more distinctive town names like Oatmeal, TX.... ;)

Hello all this is my first post !!!! Send me mail !!! I actually have never received a hand written letter via mail :( Nathan Sanchez 241 south greenwood Montebello CA 9064
)Nathan you might not get any this time either if you don't include your full zip code. The USPS is picky about this.
But fear not! I looked your zip code up: Montebello CA 90640-5131.

We have all kinds of famous city names in Georgia. Only we pronounce some of them them differently. On purpose, I presume. For example, Cairo is KAY-ro.

Hi Barbara

Indeed, it's always the time to write.
I've just added you to my address list, so you'll get a letter from me. But you might have more luck if you posted in the "InCo Pen Pals" thread which was started when InCoWriMo finished for this year. (Maybe you have, I didn't check there.)
