I know this is a little late but for some reasons I was focusing on other things during February.... :)

Here are my totals for the month:
https://farm9.staticflickr.com/8617/16714187441_ee2221ea1c.jpg
I was doing great till the third week when the fever hit, taking all my thinking away. Happily, I did recover and just got my 28th letter out the door before the end of the month. In 2013 I sent out 92, in 2014 I sent out 144, it kinda make this year’s 28 look funny but they were full replies and not just short introductions.
15 in, 28 out.

https://farm9.staticflickr.com/8574/16714401632_d7eae852c2.jpg
It looks like I almost sent out 20,000 words (19,225 / 28 = 686.6 words a day on average). Running those numbers made me curious so... 2013 21,369 (763.2 a day), 2014 33,459 (1,195 a day).

Since Feb 1, 2013:

For all those feeling the pressure of 5, 10, 20+ letters waiting to be replied to, take your time. You will get through them. It is better both for you and the receiver of the reply if you don't rush or force it.

I almost got mine down to 40 and am replying to letters that I received at the end of October. They have other letters to play with and would much rather have a reply that is filled with answers, questions, and random ramblings, then a quick "I got your letter but don't have much time to...". Savour them and they will too.

May your new conversations last for years.

I've just realised some of this month's outgoing international post may not have sufficient postage for airmail rate. For some reason, I thought first class was 64p, not 63p and therefore when making up postage, did not include enough stamps on the letters. I am so annoyed. I can't remember who I used the insufficient postage on. Ira? Phil? Richard? ....

I don't think it was me as I got a letter from you delivered on Saturday, or was it Friday. Either way, I just got one from you.

Excellent fleabay score! I must look on there for stamp, running low. Any recommended sellers or just whatever's going?

There are always offers on, people buy stamps expecting their value to increase, sadly for them this does not happen and when they want to liquidate them, it's a below face value for bulk collections. Seach the bay with these keywords and you'll usually find offers: GB, stamps, postage, mint etc. and you'll see the offers, don't know if this works for other countries?

One out today to the UK; my first since the raise in postage rates effective 2015-05-31.

If you piece together "Global" prices using denominated stamps instead of "global fever" [sic] stamps, you need to reach $1.20 now. Domestic postcards are now 0.35, a second oz for domestic letters is now 0.22 extra (0.71 total) as is the surcharge for "non-machineable" envelopes.

But the cool/big news for me is that the USPS is finally making non-denominated stamps for "postcard", "two ounce", "three ounce", "non-machineable surcharge" (i kid you not) and "additional ounce" stamps, to join the current "forever" and "global fever [sic]" stamps.

So if you don't want to use the boringly small selection of "global forever" stamps you'll soon be able to use any two "forever" stamps plus one "additional ounce" stamp instead. Or a "forever" plus a "two ounce" or "non-machineable surcharge". It would be nice if they kept that math consistent with the next price rise whenever that ends up happening, but they probably won't.

Two items out with letters tomorrow.

USPS carrier should be amused: I have exact amounts of postage on both a 2-oz package and a 3.5-oz first-class nonmachinable letter. Hoping the USPS agrees with me on the latter. I'm going to force the carrier to do math. :D

Empty_of_Clouds
July 9th, 2015, 11:58 PM
correspondence
kɒrɪˈspɒnd(ə)ns/
noun
noun: correspondence; plural noun: correspondences

1.
a close similarity, connection, or equivalence.
"there is a simple correspondence between the distance of a focused object from the eye and the size of its image on the retina"
synonyms: correlation, similarity, resemblance, comparability, compatibility, agreement, consistency, congruity, conformity, uniformity, harmony, affinity, accordance, accord, concurrence, coincidence; More
association, relationship, connection, interaction
"there is some correspondence between the two variables"
2.
communication by exchanging letters.
"the organization engaged in detailed correspondence with local MPs"
synonyms: letter writing, writing, written communication
"he kept up a ceaseless round of correspondence"

It's the second the two definitions above, although it could easily be the first given how often I see people write "I resemble that remark". :)

My correspondence is interrupted by helping these two write their own. I trust that anyone waiting for a reply will understand. ;) http://images.tapatalk-cdn.com/15/07/14/9f7afeb28626bb1aa5898fb17322f550.jpghttp://images.tapatalk-cdn.com/15/07/14/ffb455805c8c063ea8c4384ea775abdd.jpg

One out in the mail. Picked up a couple of new corresponders, of which I need to write to one to get the ball rolling.

Adding: one postcard out from another exchange.

I did - I sent a letter to my son's dentist firing her. But it's written in a really pretty hand.

I am way behind on correspondence, due to various labours that are claiming my time, but micat's comment about her son' dentist, remind me of a note that I must write to my physician later today. I like my physician, she is lovely, intelligent and beautiful, and in consequence believes I have high blood pressure. She also likes my pen and has commented most positively about it. She is leaving the local practice to work closer to her family and community, and I must write her a goodbye note, and encourage her to visit my favourite little pen shop, which is near where she will be going.

I was intending to catch up yesterday, but the humidex was 40 so I dripped all over my desk and the paper.

Two in over the weekend, but I was too captivated by the spate of thunderstorms all weekend to write.

I put two out this morning. Was hoping to get more done over the weekend but between remodeling work on the house, and trying to stay hydrated, I didn't get anymore out.

Just looking at the new incoming USPS Flannery O'Connor stamp. A favorite author, but what would I use a 93 cent stamp for?
