I've run out of pens to grind and I'm still stuck on trying to figure out the best approach to get a consistent and aesthetic pleasing needlepoint. I've looked at the few that I have had done by others and I see the shape and how it's supposed to look, but it's just not happening!

Do you grind the top and bottoms flat first, then go into thinning and rounding the sides or do you flatten the top, get the sides where you want, and then work the underside? I've tried doing it a few different ways and when I go to try and round the tip so it isn't sharp, I end up losing so much material and the final product is a small portion of tipping material left over instead of a longer tapered profile. I'll post pictures when I can, but wanted to get the discussion started.

I've had no issues thinning nibs in the past to make them finer or making italics, but going this fine is a real struggle for me.
