My latest ink sample from Diamine is Diamine Sunset

This ink is a bright reddish orange shade that fits it's name really well. It's well saturated, and exhibited plenty of shading in my writing tests.

It wrote straight away without any hard starts or skipping with both of my pens on several different papers. The flow is very good and so is it's lubrication at the nib. it didn't feel particularly wet or dry. The dry time was reasonably quick on the papers I used it on, and there were no smears after it was dry.

I didn't have many inks that were a similar colour to compare it against. The ones I have are either more orange or more yellow.

This isn't sold as a waterproof ink, and it shows no noticeable water resistance.

I used a Lamy M nib and a Lamy 1.1mm nib and this ink took 15-16 secs to dry on my Rhodia Dot Pad 80gsm paper. No smear when dry.

It exhibited good flow and lubrication and I found it well behaved to write with. I saw no skips or hard starts while I did my swabs and dry time tests.

It exhibited some show through on cheap copy paper.

It is currently available in 80ml glass bottles or 30ml plastic bottles

Diamine (http://www.diamineinks.co.uk/listings.aspx?catid=14) sell it directly to end-users on their web-site.

It's a reasonable price.

I thought exactly the same thing as DaveBj. That is one bright color! I'm at least going to try a sample. Thanks Chrissy!

It's definitely a sunset colour. :) I love the way these reddish/orange inks are outlined when you write with them.

You're welcome :)

I enjoy my Diamine Sunset. A good ink and no trouble in my TWSBI Vac 700. A good line even with the extra fine nib.

With Sept. here, I've been looking for a good Autumn color -- something reddish/orange/brown. This is a candidate.

Could you put together, in a separate post, a list of what you'd consider Autumn color theme inks? I'd appreciate that, and others probably will too.

Thanks!

I could try, but my Autumnal colours might not be everyones' choice :)

Chrissy, thank you for yet another great ink review, more than a few of my ink purchases are based on your information! Is there any chance you can advise how you'd compare Diamine Sunset to Noodler's Apache Sunset?

You're welcome and thank you. :) Sadly, I don't have Noodler's Apache Sunset. Noodler's inks aren't so easy to get in Britain, and I don't tend to regularly buy them when I visit the US because I already have plenty of similar inks.

I hope someone may have both inks and might show you a comparison between them. :)

Bill, I have two words for you...AUTUMN OAK. It is a little dry in finer pens for me, but in a wetter nib, it is lovely!

Quite a difference in the way it reacts to different paper, the two small notebooks in particular. They almost look like two different inks. Could that be because of the difference in the two nibs? I presume the first sample is with the 1.1 stub.

Is it just "me", or does this ink sometimes look like it has a dark outline on it, in some of the writing? That makes it even cooler, in my opinion. The more reddish orange, the better too. I am definitely going to try this ink.

Great review thanks. It appears to have some shading, or am I wrong?

The first half of the first sample was with the 1.1mm nib, then I used the Lamy M nib. I saw plenty of shading.

It's not just you. It definitely has an outline around it, and this seems to be a common feature in most Diamine red inks
