My grandfather has a Parker 51 that's in excellent condition except that the cap jewel has fallen off over the course of several moves, including one across the Atlantic Ocean. As far as I can determine with my untrained eye, the only problem with it is the missing jewel, so I'm wondering on where I can get one and even some tips on how to replace it myself, if possible.

Is the stem broken off in the cap, or is the hole clear?
Broken stem = trip to specialist to remove.

Reproduction jewels are on eBay for about $12

Thanks for the tip. I'll need to look at it more closely next time I visit. Good to know that it's not too pricey to fix if I'm lucky.

Parker called it a clip screw but we seem to call it a jewel now.

Note there are two thread sizes.

Reproductions are ~10. Good reproductions are ~15. Used originals are ~25. On occasion one can find a NOS original.

Try pentooling.com If you strike out there I know where the good reproduction jewels come from.

Yep, I'm going to take a look at just what condition it's in next time I visit my grandpa, and talk to him about fixing it. Need to know exactly what part I need to get, after all.
