Uhm, the only difference I can see is that in the silvery looking one, it doesn't seem to have the same etched (if that's what you call it) part as the gold looking one near the end of the cap.

Yup. I'm posted a topic on the fountainpenboard to see if any of the super collectors there can find a correlation between the date of manufacture and the tooling of the metal jewel-rings...

Really love the look of the Vacuumatic.
