Hi all! I have a Nakaya Piccolo that I purchased second hand, and I disassembled it for a complete cleaning when I received it. Upon doing so, I noticed that the exposed portion of the nib is considerably darker that the part of the nib that was down in the section. Is there a safe way to clean this...something like jewelry cleaner...that will remove the staining without damaging the nib? Thanks in advance.

Does it appear to be pigment ink staining? Is it Ruthenium/Rhodium plated or is it the natural finish?
Pictures would help.

First I would try soaking the nib in a cup of water + 2 drops of dishwashing detergent.
Then move up to a 'sunshine' cloth.
