I keep reading about how much fun pen shows are, so I am idly musing whether I might be able to attend such an event. The nearest show to me is the South-West Pen Show/ (http://www.ukpenshows.co.uk/south-west-pen-show/) near Bristol. When I say nearest, I mean it's only 3 hours solid driving to get there, which is one of the factors that makes attending a non-trivial decision.

I assume this show will happen again in January 2017.

Is anyone else here thinking of going?

Could people who have been before tell me whether it's likely that there will be anyone there offering nib adjustment services?

Cheers,

John

Ah, an idle musing I've indulged in for several years now, and never been able to act upon. The show normally clashes with a family commitment, but it appears it might be happening in February next year - linky (http://www.antiquesatlas.com/antique_fair/bristols_pen_show_at_the_hilton_hotel/af1242). Which cruelly gives me an iota of hope I don't usually have. But, yeah, still probably a snowball's chance. Hey ho.

Ooh, thanks for that heads up on the possible date change.

I have been for several years now. It's a good intro pen shows. You need to find out if John Sorowka is going this year for nib work.

This sounds quite fun and not too far away. I should give it some thought. :)

Let's hope UK Pen Shows publishes some definitive dates before too long.

John Twiss has just posted on Facebook that the date is in fact 5th February. Any advance on that? Anyone taking bets on which date might be the real one? :mad2:

And after all that I was unable to get there. Did any other FPGeeks make it there?

What's needed is a South by Southwest* Pen Show for pen lovers on the correct side of the Tamar, said the show-missing weevil. :(

*Score by Bernard Herrmann, crop sprayers not included.

it was a lovely show and I have to say rather busy. The huge queue at John's grinding wheel made me stay for 4 hours an all time record. Brilliant work he does. Vera
