The flexy nib is just a joy to use. Super Flexible and amazing line variation from xxf to BBB with a very nice snapback after flex.
Look at pictures for more details on nib and writing samples.
The barrel is in very good condition, with some brown oxidation.
Writing on barrel is crisp and legible. It says:

Pat D 1884 ---- May 29, 1899
Waterman Ideal Fountain
Pen N.Y. USA ----- August 4, 1903

The cap is not original, it is an black ebonite that matches the barrel, with a picture of a bird and says 1500 on it. Possibly a Mabie Todd Swan cap? Cap works as it should, screws onto barrel and keeps ink from drying the nib and feed.

Its amazing to think that this pen is greater than 100 years old!
