Nice review. I got a very similar pen as a gift for Christmas as well...it had gold trim, but it can be scratched off with a fingernail :( It is a c/c pen with an odd shaped (mine has an octagonal grip) section, and it doesn't do anything for me...but then again my pen really doesn't have a story. I think I'll stay far away from kit pens...
I do like how the back of the barrel (the end away from the section) unscrews and so i guess you could access a converter more easily though...

Yeah, kit pens have their stigma. This would be my second. My first was one drgoretex made for when I did not know much about fountain pens. I liked the pen itself and he uses Miesternibs, so, they are very good.

Since my brother gave me this one, I am keeping it. I do like it.

Yeah, kit pens have their stigma. This would be my second. My first was one drgoretex made for when I did not know much about fountain pens. I liked the pen itself and he uses Miesternibs, so, they are very good.

I was somewhat surprised by how smooth the nib was on mine...

Yes, this one was really smooth out of the box. I am not sure if the maker may be on FPN or here. I think they may have smoothed it.
