Evening fellow leaky pen fans. I have an issue and was looking for some advice.
The other night I left my starwalker in the car over night, it was quite cold, and when I went to unscrew the cap the barrel unscrewed from the joining section rather than the cap :o now it seems to occur when I tighten the cap quite tight. Should I glue it? I can't be bothered to send it away for repair, obviously I will if there's no way I can stop it but I'd rather not.
Any advice welcome.

Do not glue it. Don't over tighten the cap.

I try not to, but I do it absent minded, then feel dread when I realise.

I wonder what they stick it with at the factory.

Try a little piece of teflon tape on the barrel threads

Not a bad idea, I also being a gas engineer have a lot of ptfe tape I wonder if that would work.

Teflon is just a brand name for PTFE, so you have the tape you need :)

I'll give it a whirl.

There *is* one thing worth mentioning: any 'repair' that is adding material to a threaded section of a pen risks causing cracking in the part being threaded into. I don't know this pen other than seeing photos of them, but use the most minimal amount you can to avoid further damage to the pen.

I'll probably try one wrap at a time until it feels right

Or a safer alternative is beeswax.
