I've never seen that grey finish on a Soennecken 111 before...is it a rare one?

I've never seen that grey finish on a Soennecken 111 before...is it a rare one?

I think it was called Silver-Grey Herringbone and was one of the 7 colors offered (light tortoise, dark tortoise, green, silver, rosewood, silver-grey, black). All the herringbone finish pens are pretty rare.

It's probably just the picture, but the pen looks more Esterbrook swirl-like than herringbone. Funny what cameras can do!

Very true - I don't know whether the herringbone patterns on the 111 are rarer than the lizard patterns on the 222, but they are amazing pens nonetheless.
(Shame the 111 is a broad nib - I'd be all over it if it was a F/XF)

The close-ups show the pattern of the Soennecken 111 better. The 111 and 222 are both super rare. Amazing celluloid patterns that unfortunately can develop issues that make them even rarer!
