An old Pathécolor video of the area around countryside surrounding town from the early days:

A flyover the Mach Loop training route that the RAF and USAF use for low level flying. Machynlleth is at 2:25. The USAF never get as low as the Brits do ;)

Here's a vid of the low flying from the side of the mountain if you're into that sort of thing. Not my video, but I can assure you it's as loud as it sounds, especially the Typhoons!

My town because infamous last year with the disappearance of a 5 year old girl called April Jones. For anyone that saw the news coverage, we're still looking, and the town is still covered in pink for her x

I live in Fort Smith Arkansas. While it is not my original hometown, I now call it home. It was once a military outpost for both settlers going west and for troops that went into the Indian Territory. It was an important fort during the Civil War too. Justice was dispensed from Fort Smith for the Indian Territory. The hanging gallows is now part of the fort's Museum. Fort Smith also the dubious honor of having the only Bordello in the US to be on the historic building registry.

Excellent video Grandmia. It's great to see where everyone calls home.
Living in the desert southwestern US (El Paso, Texas) far removed from major hub cities can have its drawbacks but we get the largest equestrian statue in the world. That counts for something, right?

El Paso is divided right down the middle by the southern most edge of the Rocky Mountains.

Travel north for 45 minutes or so and you run into Las Cruces, New Mexico. I get lost just looking at the Organ Mountains.

On the way to Las Cruces, if you are willing to take it slow, you can drive through the Pecan groves. This past season was not too good to the growers though. The summer rains never really came.

There is not much surface water around here even with the Rio Grande, which is not so Grand this far north, running through the city.

When we want to get away from the summer heat, we go to Ruidoso, New Mexico where you can rent a cabin in the middle of the pine forests for a weekend.
