The Visconti Ponte Vecchio was released in 1995 to honor the 650th anniversary of the Ponte Vecchio bridge built in Florence, Italy. The bridge stands today and has undergone only minor changes since its construction in 1345. To put that in perspective, especially for those of us in North America,
that was 150 years before Columbus sailed to “The New World”.

Visconti released the Ponte Vecchio in three different colors in 1995, and today these are quite hard to find. This piece, in Pompeii Blue, is often acknowledged to be the most attractive of the three. The pen is a beautiful Italian celluloid with gorgeous blue and deep orange coloring. Best of all,
this is the harder to find Limited Edition version.
This LE features a section and cap end in the same celluloid (these parts are plain black on the non-LE) and of course each piece is individually numbered.

This piece bears the number 832/1345 engraved on the top cap band and a special engraving depicting the bridge on the other cap band. The pen features an 18K Broad nib which is typical of Visconti in writing wet, juicy, and broad. I have noticed only a very occasional slight skip at some starts,
which can be seen if you look closely at the writing sample below. This could be because I use rather heavy pressure when I write. In any case,
I’m sure it could be addressed with a $25 tuneup by a nib meister, but it never bothered me enough to even bother.

The pen’s measurements are listed just below. One of the pictures shows it next to a Pelikan M800. As you can see, the Ponte Vecchio is a bit longer and thinner than the M800, with a slightly smaller nib. I find it extremely comfortable to hold, whether for short or for long writing sessions.

Length capped: 133 mm
Length uncapped: 127 mm
Length posted: 168 mm

The pen is cartridge/converter filled and writes super smooth. It is accompanied by the box and paper as shown in the photos.

$395 plus $19 shipping in US. Offers will be considered.

They're quite an attractive pair, aren't they? Actually, it is hard enough to let the Visconti go.
