Just recieved a Christmas card written with a broad cursive italic nib (unless I'm greatly mistaken). And now I want one.

Given that a) this is never going to be an everyday writing tool, and b) impecunious is my middle name, I am looking at the inexpensive options.

The first obvious option is to buy a customised #6 nib from http://www.fpnibs.com/ and fit it to one of my Jinhaos.

The second obvious option is to buy an Italix Parson's Essential with the Cursive nib option.

Anyone here able to share their experience of these products? Anyone got other good suggestions?

I bought 2 Parson's Essentials last time they came up on Massdrop. One with the 18k nib and one with the medium cursive stub. A gorgeous writer with natural line variation. I'm looking to buy another Italix pen with a broad cursive stub. These are probably the best bang for the buck quality pens with a list of customised nib options at no extra charge.

Pilot 78G with a double broad italic for $20. Not sure if there is anything more local to you as I don't know if the free shipping on this one includes international (it's in the US / California).

I've got medium and broad cursive italics from FPNibs and they are fantastic. Got them in the ruthenium finish too, stealthy!

You are in UK already, getting the Parson's Essential is a no brainer.
If I were you, I'd get two, one with broad italic cursive, and another with medium stub. One for writing cards and special occasions, the other for writing daily.

I have one, and here's my review (http://willvintage.nextcoder.com/2016/02/12/parsons-essential-is-now-also-mine/) of it.

Agreed penwash. That medium cursive stub is a beauty. I'll get another with the broad cursive italic next. Cheaper to buy another pen than just the nib.

I decided to get a Parson's Essential with the broad italic cursive. I do like Will's idea of getting two, and they even have an excellent offer if one order's three, but funds limit me to just the one for now.
