For the flex-nib enthusiast and the devoted vintage Waterman collector alike, I have to offer a fully-restored, first-year (Type 0) Waterman Ink-Vue in Silver Ray with a delightful flexible Ideal Keyhole nib:

Description: Waterman first introduced the Ink-Vue (their answer to Parker's Vacumatic) just in time for the holidays in 1934. The initial version they released, designated "Type 0" by Richard Binder, featured a medallion on the crown of the cap and the butt of the barrel as well as a one-piece lever. Soon afterward this model was superceded by the Type 1, featuring the jointed lever. In Mr. Binder's words: "Within about six months of the Ink-Vue’s introduction, Waterman rushed the tweaked version (which I will call Type 1 for its having been the first widely sold model) into production; consequently very few of the first version (Type 0) were sold." (http://www.richardspens.com/?page=ref/profiles/ink_vue.htm)

The pen on offer is the scarce Type 0 model with the double medallions, one-piece lever, and slip-fit section. It measures a hair over 5" capped and the trim is nickel-plated. This Ink-Vue is equipped with a Waterman Ideal Keyhole nib, which lays down a smooth and consistent EF line that widens to a BB+ under pressure. The nib has excellent snap-back and the flow is perfect (not too dry or wet) for Copperplate and Spencerian styles.

The same model is featured at the top of the page and described by David Nishimura here: https://www.vintagepens.com/Waterman_Ink-Vue.shtml

Condition: Fully restored with a new sac replaced over the summer – guaranteed to fill to capacity. These one-piece levers had a tendency to become loose after extended use (hence the modified design), popping out during writing as they are normally only supposed to do when pulled out for filling. This one hasn't popped out on me once in 10 years of ownership. No chips, cracks, or personal engravings in the celluloid. Cap screws on and holds firmly to the barrel. All parts are present and correct. And the barrel-end has a deep, fully legible imprint. One often finds these pens in the wild with missing medallions; I believe they were simply glued on. Both medallions are intact on this pen and in superb condition.

The trim is all but free of brassing except for the lever, which has high-point wear on the tip and some of the inner ridges. N.B. There is a hairline crack at the base of the nib where it meets the section (extends to the 'E' in 'REG.'). As mentioned, I've owned this pen since 2006. And in that time this crack hasn't crept or grown at all. On this score, I think it's safe to say it's stable, and it certainly doesn't affect the feel or flow of the nib on paper. On the whole, this pen is in exceptional condition when compared to your typical Ink-Vue in this color, which were especially prone to hairlines, celluloid separation, corrosion, and brassing to the chrome trim. The flaw in the nib, however, has been factored into the price.

Price: $240 reduced to $185 SOLD

Order, Payment, & Guarantee: Pens are placed on hold for the first person to PM me with firm request to purchase. But if I haven't received Paypal payment within 24 hrs, then they become available to the next person. All my pens are guaranteed to be in the condition in which I've described them. My descriptions are more detailed than most because it's important to me that the buyer knows exactly what s/he is getting. But if I've missed something or the filling mechanism is not fully functional, the buyer may contact me up to 7 days after receiving the pen for a full refund. I've sold pens online for nearly a decade. Please check my past listings here as well as on the classifieds and historical sales forums on FPN (username: Estragon) for some of my previous offerings.
