The Virginia Woolf is one of the Writers Series issued by Montblanc. This is what Montblanc says about the pen on their website:

The Writers Edition “Virginia Woolf” is oriented impressively to the literary heritage of the writer it is named after: 75 years after the publication of the novel “The Waves”, finely engraved guilloche work recalls Virginia Woolf’s most outstanding work and her eventful life. In the form of waves, the guilloche work covers the body of jet-black precious resin, underlining the lighty curved silhouette.

The most eye-catching feature is a faceted ruby on the gilt clip, symbolising the individuality of Virginia Woolf’s avant-garde style and the climax of her literary creation. The 18-karat gold nib reveals the tragic end of the successful writer: the two elm trees, under which Virginia Woolf found her last resting place on her estate in Sussex in 1941, are masterfully engraved for eternity an the handmade nib.

The pen is number 9056/16000 and is pre-owned without box. Montblanc nibs are not marked (that I know of) but this one appears to be B or perhaps BB. It writes very smooth, broad, and wet and a writing sample is included after the photos below.

Is this more of the 146 size pen or a 149 sized pen?

I'm not real familiar with Montblancs, but here are comparison shots next to a Pelikan M800

Cool thanks, looks to me that it would be MB146 sized then. But I have an M800 and that gives me an idea on the size. Pretty pen but think I'll pass. Good Luck with your sale.

All of the Montblanc Writers Editions are generally based on the 146 sized pen apart from the Hemingway that has a 149 size nib.

Some are fatter and some are slightly slimmer, but their nibs are 146 size.

The Virginia Woolf deserves to be a much more popular pen than it seems to be. It's quite beautiful. :o If I didn't already have one, and I lived in the US, I would be very tempted to buy this one. :)
